Teaching during a Pandemic: Your Questions Answered
These last few weeks feel as if I have been on a complete rollercoaster. One things I have learned is how important it is to be flexible and open-minded. I always knew technology was important, but now more than ever I strongly feel it is a necessity for many of our ELLs.
A lot of you feel the exact same way, and I enjoyed talking with everyone during our Live Q & A sessions. Here are some of the questions that we talked about during our live sessions:
- What are some tech tools that my ELLs can use?
- I do not speak the home language of my students. How can I translate and actively contact them to update them on what is happening?
- I am reluctant to use Zoom & Google Hangout. What do you suggest?
- My question would be how to teach a lesson to a beginner ESL student usingĀ a virtual platform like ZOOM or Microsoft Teams…and when I say how to, I mean make it interactive.
- What additional security can I add on Zoom?
- I co-teach and I am not being included in on the assignments. How do I support my ELLs?
If you are in the midst of virtual learning I want to encourage you to listen to this Live Q & A session. There are so many gold nuggets! Teachers are suggesting time-saving applications and there go to strategies. I know I always learn a lot by talking to other teachers.
Also Maria shared an amazing tool that will help you determine the correct Zoom settings for your meetings. These settings will help put extra privacy and protecting in place for your ELLs. Download the settings guide here. Thank you Maria for sharing this valuable tool.
